Senator Palacios is calling for another "Roundtable Discussion" this coming Monday, March 14th starting at 6:30pm at the Guam Legislature Public Hearing Room in Hagatna. At least that is what it is being advertised as. I did not see this hearing listed on the Legislative Calendar. But, like the first "discussion", this may turn into a continuation of Chief Salas' confirmation or another all out "oversight hearing" like the first meeting.
Senator Palacios was not able to question Fire Chief Salas at the first "Roundtable Discussion" held this past Thursday, March 3rd. The Fire Chief had been out sick and was not able to make it. But the Chief has indicated that he will be there. I am hoping that this discussion will in fact be just that, a roundtable discussion that will discuss and clarify and possibly rectify any pressing issues that the good Senator my be confused about regarding firefighter compensation.
We shall see what happens. In the meantime, all of you out there in blog land, put March 14th on your calendars and be at the legislature at 6:30pm Monday evening. It should prove to be very interesting to watch. If it does turn out to be a continuation of the Fire Chief's confirmation hearing, then it must be open for public comment.
